The orientation program for new Rover mates and the certificate awarding ceremony for senior Rover mates of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) have been held in a festive atmosphere.
The event took place on Wednesday, October 29, at the TSC Conference Room. Newly joined Rover mates were formally welcomed, while senior Rover mates were honored with crests and certificates in recognition of their dedicated service.
PSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam attended the ceremony as the chief guest. At the beginning of the program, he inaugurated the newly built Rover Den by cutting a ribbon and later distributed certificates among the senior members.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Abu Yusuf, Treasurer of PSTU Rover Scouts, and conducted by Dr. Aminul Islam Tito, Secretary of the unit. Special guests included Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan, Treasurer Professor Abdul Latif, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Ektiar Uddin, Former District Rover Commissioner of Patuakhali Upadhyay Abul Kalam Azad, and Former Principal of Patuakhali Haji Hamez Uddin Mridha College, Selim Mridha.

In recognition of their outstanding leadership and contribution, Senior Rover Mates Merciful Alam Rimon and Naimur Rahman Benzin were presented with honorary crests.
Reflecting on the occasion, former Senior Rover Mate Merciful Alam Rimon said,“On a day like this, the absence of our two late Secretariats —Abu Hanif Bhai and Professor Zillur Sir—is deeply felt. They played a pioneering role in establishing Rover Scouting at PSTU. I hope their spirit of dedication continues through our new Rover mates. I also expect that the newcomers will remain active in Rover Scouting to enhance their personal and mental skills.” In his speech as chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam said,“Scouting is a non-political social movement. Through scouting, a person can develop physically, mentally, and morally to become an ideal citizen. A true scout can move forward with determination in every task.”
He also urged the scouts to follow the ideals of Lord Baden-Powell and dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.
