


The authorities of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) have expelled three students for different terms on charges of violating university discipline and involvement in ragging.
According to an official order issued by the Registrar’s Office following the decision of the university’s 41st disciplinary committee meeting held on October 28, the punishments have been enforced.
The order stated that Farhan Israk Khan (Supto), a fourth-semester student of the Faculty of Agriculture and a resident of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall–1, has been expelled for two semesters for planning, leading, organizing, and actively participating in ragging, as well as physically and mentally harassing fellow students.
For involvement in the same incident, Md. Nafiul Alam Nahid, a fourth-semester student of the Faculty of Fisheries and also a resident of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall–1, has been expelled for one semester. Meanwhile, Faria Akter Natasha, a second-semester student of the Faculty of Agriculture and a resident of Kabi Begum Sufia Kamal Hall, has also been expelled for one semester as she was identified as the main instigator of the incident and for filing a false allegation of teasing.
The notice further mentioned that the expelled students are prohibited from staying in any campus or residential hall during the period of expulsion.
The order, signed by Professor Dr. Md. Ektiar Uddin, acting registrar of the university, stated that the decision has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor.
