


A prayer session has been held at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) seeking the recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former three-time Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
On Wednesday (3 December), after the Asr prayer, the PSTU Zia Parishad (Officers’ Unit) organized a Milad and special prayer at the university’s central Jame Mosque.
The Vice-Chancellor of PSTU, Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, attended the event as the chief guest. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan and Treasurer Professor Md. Abdul Latif were present as special guests.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan said, “The deteriorating health condition of the national leader has deeply saddened the nation.” He prayed for her quick recovery and requested the countrymen to keep her in their prayers. In his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam said, “Begum Khaleda Zia is not only a political leader—she is regarded as a guardian of the nation by many. Her illness has caused deep concern among people across political lines. Her long struggle for democracy and the rights of the people remains memorable. Her recovery is crucial for preserving national unity.”
The program was conducted by Abu Bakar Siddique, President of the PSTU Officers’ Unit of Zia Parishad. The prayer was led by Hafiz Md. Abdul Quddus, Senior Pesh Imam of the central mosque.
Deans of various faculties, teachers, officers, students, and staff members attended the prayer session.
