


A discussion meeting, prayer session cake-cutting ceremony and sweets distribution were organized by the Gacha Metro Thana Sramik Dal to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of former three-time prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The event was chaired by Gacha Metro Thana Sramik Dal President Md. Raju Ahmed Shahin and moderated by General Secretary Md. Abu Ishaq Mamun. The prayer was led by Maulana Anisul Rahman, imam and khatib of Aladdin Tower Textile Jame Mosque.
Senior leaders and activists of the organization attended the program along with BNP leaders and representatives from different levels of the Gacha Metro Thana Sramik Dal.
Speaking at the discussion participants praised Khaleda Zia’s role in Bangladesh’s political history particularly her contributions to what they described as the movement for democracy, voting rights and citizens’ rights.
They said Khaleda Zia had continued her political activities despite various challenges and pressures and had played an important role during periods of political uncertainty.
Raju Ahmed Shahin urged party activists to remain united and work to protect workers’ rights and strengthen democratic movements.
“Begum Khaleda Zia is not only a leader of a political party; she is a symbol of democracy,” he said, adding that the organization was remembering her with respect on her 82nd birthday.
The program concluded with a special prayer seeking the forgiveness and peace of Khaleda Zia’s soul, followed by cake cutting and distribution of sweets among those attending.
