


Bangladesh's dengue outbreak continues to be a severe public health concern, reporting 1,147 new hospitalisations and five fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.
Latest Statistics and Monthly Trends • Cumulative 2024 Toll: A total of 72,822 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide this year, with the total death toll reaching 288. • Recent Fatalities: Of the latest five deaths, three occurred in Dhaka Division, with one each in Dhaka North City Corporation and Rajshahi. • Monthly Highs: October registered the highest monthly death toll of the year with 80 fatalities. In terms of admissions, October also recorded the highest number in the last 10 months, with 22,520 hospitalisations. • November Start: So far in November, the country has recorded 2,960 admissions and 10 deaths.
The Dhaka North City Corporation reported the highest number of new admissions in the last 24 hours, with 284 patients. The DGHS maintains that 2023 remains the worst year on record since 2000, seeing the highest annual hospitalisations (321,179 cases) and the highest single-year death toll (1,705 fatalities).
