


A 25-year-old day laborer was killed when a passenger bus plunged into a roadside pond in the Gutdia area of Dumuria, Khulna, on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, Chhaidur Rahman, was the son of Achabur Sardar from Kharia village in Paikgachha upazila.
According to Amresh Kumar Mandal, Vice President of the Khulna District Bus Owners' Association, the Khulna-bound bus (Registration: Pabna-B-182) departed Paikgachha at 8:00 a.m. Around 9:45 a.m., the driver lost control of the vehicle on the highway in Gutdia, causing it to veer off the road and sink into an adjacent pond. Chhaidur died on the spot.
Lashkar Union Parishad Acting Chairman Jahangir Alam Sana confirmed the victim's identity, noting that Chhaidur was traveling to Dhaka via Khulna for work.
Rescue operations to recover the submerged bus were ongoing at the time of filing this report.
