A Khulna Fire Service diving team recovered the body of a five-year-old boy, Raihan Mir, who drowned while bathing in the Nabaganga River in Narail's Lohagara upazila on Tuesday (June 2).

Raihan, son of local sand trader Jannat Mir from Akkhabari village, went missing around 11:00 AM while swimming with a few other children near the Akkhabari Samity Ghat. When locals and relatives failed to locate the child, they notified the authorities.

Lohagara Fire Service personnel arrived at the scene and immediately summoned a specialized diving unit from Khulna. The diving team began their search at 3:30 PM and recovered the boy’s body within 30 minutes.

Lohagara Fire Service Station Officer Md. Sohaguzzaman confirmed the recovery. "We responded to the scene immediately and coordinated with the Khulna diving team. The body was retrieved after a brief underwater search," he stated.

The child’s body has been handed over to his family in the presence of local representatives. The tragic incident has cast a shadow of grief over the village.
