Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti is in no rush to field star forward Neymar following a recent calf injury. The Italian manager made the remarks on Tuesday after the team arrived in Newark, United States, for the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti previously stated that Neymar would be ready for Brazil's first or second group-stage match. Last week, team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed the 34-year-old would be sidelined for up to three weeks.

Five-time world champions Brazil begin their campaign against Morocco on June 13.

"He's progressing well, he's doing well, we're in no rush," Ancelotti said upon arrival.

Neymar's inclusion in the 26-man squad surprised many, as he has not played for the national team in nearly three years due to persistent injuries. However, as Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals in 128 appearances, his experience remains a major asset heading into his fourth World Cup.

Brazil enters this tournament with less momentum than in previous years. The team finished fifth in South American qualifying and suffered recent defeats to France, Japan and Bolivia.

Despite these setbacks, Ancelotti insists his team will be strong contenders in North America.

"We want to compete, try our best, and work hard. Everyone knows Brazil's expectations," Ancelotti said. "There are no clear favorites, but Brazil can compete with anyone."

While this current squad may lack the aura of past generations, veteran midfielder Casemiro noted that fans back home still expect a sixth world title.

"There are big expectations. It will be tough, but we are very excited and we want to win," Casemiro said.

Brazil is drawn in Group C and will face Haiti and Scotland following their opener against Morocco.
