May Day and Occupational Safety Day Celebrated in Porsha

The Porsha Upazila administration and various labor organizations observed International Workers’ Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day on Friday with rallies and discussion meetings.

The official program, organized by the Upazila administration, began with a colorful rally followed by a discussion at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam presided over the event. Notable attendees included Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman, BNP General Secretary Sadequl Islam, and other local officials.

Simultaneously, the Upazila Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation organized a separate rally starting from Nitpur Kapali junction.

The procession ended at the Upazila premises with a gathering attended by Jamaat-e-Islami district member Chairman Mahbubul Alam and Upazila Ameer Sagar Ali. Other groups, including the Imarat Nirman Sramik Union (Construction Workers' Union), also held independent programs to demand better working conditions and safety.
