


After several days of continuous rain, the intense heat has eased across Bangladesh. In the last 24 hours, the country recorded its highest rainfall at 121 millimeters, bringing temperatures down to around 33°C.
However, new risks are emerging. The Meteorological Department has warned of possible Kalbaisakhi storms, accompanied by thunder, strong winds, and hail, in all eight divisions over the next 48 hours starting from Thursday (April 30) afternoon.
Meteorologist Toriful Newaz Kabir said that from 1 pm Thursday, isolated Kalbaisakhi storms may hit Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Wind speeds could reach 60–80 km/h or higher, with a chance of hailstorms in some areas.
In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Khepupara, Patuakhali (121 mm). Other notable rainfall includes Hatia, Noakhali (112 mm), Narayanganj (104 mm), Baghabari, Rajshahi (84 mm), Tangail (75 mm), Patuakhali (72 mm), Barisal (70 mm), Dhaka (65 mm), and Chandpur (64 mm).
Meanwhile, the highest temperature recorded was 33.6°C in Satkhira. In Dhaka, temperatures remained lower, with a maximum of 23.4°C during the same period.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that rainfall may decrease in the coming days, while temperatures could gradually rise over the next five days.
