National Girl Child Day was observed in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat, with a call to ensure the rights, protection, and dignity of girls.
The event, organized by the Upazila Administration and the Department of Women’s Affairs, included a street drama and discussion meeting held at the Upazila Parishad premises on Tuesday morning. The program aimed to raise awareness against child marriage and promote girls’ empowerment under the theme “I am a girl child, I fight bravely, I work for the welfare of the country.”
Upazila Executive Officer Zakia Sultana joined the meeting virtually, while Laila Akhter Banu, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer, and other officials, teachers, students, and local representatives attended in person.
Speakers emphasized the need to ensure education, safety, and equal opportunities for girls. The program concluded with a cultural performance and prize distribution among participating girl children.
