


A mobile court fined a businessman Tk 20,000 for illegally storing over 2,800 liters of diesel in Kaliakoir upazila, Gazipur. The raid took place early Sunday at Babar Ali Market in the Sriphaltali bypass area, adjacent to the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
The operation was led by Kaliakoir Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Fahim Shahriar. The convicted individual, Abul Hossain (65), had stored the fuel in 14 large drums hidden within a shop near M/s MS Filling Station.
Executive Magistrate Fahim Shahriar stated that the raid was conducted following a confidential tip-off regarding the illegal hoarding of fuel. "We seized 2,800 liters of diesel and penalized the owner to deter such practices," he said.
The Gazipur Deputy Commissioner’s Office Media Cell confirmed that the district administration is maintaining strict supervision to prevent the illegal storage and sale of fuel. So far, seven operations across Gazipur have resulted in four cases and a total of Tk 40,000 in fines. Officials emphasized that these drives will continue to protect the public interest and ensure market stability.
