Accused in 12 cases, arrested in Lakshmipur

Police have arrested a young man named Nazrul Islam Jasim, accused in 12 cases in Lakshmipur.

Sadar Police Station Police Inspector (Investigation) Jhalak Mohant confirmed his arrest on Tuesday (October 21) night. He was arrested from the Sadar Hospital area this afternoon.

Arrested Jasim is the son of the late Abdul Shahid of Sana Ullah Haji Bari of Dakshin Hamsadi village of Dakshin Hamsadi union in Sadar upazila. He was the former joint organizing secretary of the union's Jubo Dal.

Police and locals have learned that Jasim is involved in various 'terrorist' activities. There are 12 cases against him, including one murder and four weapons cases. Out of these, Jasim is an accused sentenced to a total of 22 years in three cases.

Sadar Model Police Station Police Inspector (Investigation) Jhalak Mohant said, there are several cases against Jasim. Of these, there are arrest warrants in three cases. They were arrested from the District Sadar Hospital area. Legal action against him is under process.

Meanwhile, Jasim's elder sister Saju Begum told a journalist around 9 pm, "My brother Jasim is physically ill. When he went to Sadar Hospital for treatment, the police detained him."
