


The traditional ‘Mog Bazaar’ in Lamay Hills, Bandarban has now become quite popular with locals as well as tourists. A temporary market is held here every Saturday and Tuesday, which has now become a meeting place for hill people and Bengalis.
Once upon a time, only hill people used to come to this market to sell fresh vegetables and fruits produced in their zoom farming. With the money they earned from selling vegetables, they would return home to buy dried fish, sea fish and meat for their families. However, with the change in times, now Bengali vendors, along with hill people, are also regularly sitting in this market.
Fresh vegetables and fruits from zoom, Bini rice, Kaun rice and pure khat honey, ginger, turmeric, onion and garlic, sea fish, meat, dried fish, cucumbers, and local poultry.
Tourists from Dhaka, Chattogram and other parts of the country flock to Mirinja Valley and Sukhia Valley to get fresh and different products than in the city. Tourists especially flock here to buy fresh vegetables and mountain fruits from Zoom. Along with shopping, people from far and wide also flock to eat the popular mountain food 'Mundi'. Among them, the presence of mountain women and children is noticeable.
A mountain woman who came to sell products at the market said, "By selling Zoom vegetables, we are able to meet the needs of our family as well as raise money for our children's education and medicine. No product remains unsold in this market."
Lama Municipality Sanitary Inspector Angthoy Marma said that anyone can sell products in this market according to the rules. Good seating arrangements have been made for the vendors and measures are taken to quickly remove waste every night to protect the environment of the market.
293 Goat Eating Mouza Headman Mankyaching Chowdhury said, "This is a temporary market in the market. This is a very old market. On the day of the market, men and women gather in this market to buy all kinds of mountain vegetables. There is a lot of demand from buyers because the products are cheap, fresh and free of formalin.
