


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was paid a courtesy call on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, by Md. Ziaul Haque, Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of national interest, including maritime security, coastal safety, disaster response, and the role of disciplined forces in safeguarding national sovereignty. The discussion also touched on the Coast Guard’s ongoing activities to ensure security in the country’s coastal and riverine areas.
Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Haque briefed the BNP Chairman on the operational readiness, recent achievements, and future plans of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. He highlighted the force’s role in combating smuggling, human trafficking, illegal fishing, and ensuring safety at sea.
PM appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the Bangladesh Coast Guard in protecting maritime resources and maintaining law and order in coastal regions. He expressed hope that the force would continue to strengthen its capacity in line with national priorities and international obligations.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and reflected mutual respect between political leadership and the country’s maritime security institution.
