The ‘Sirat Seminar’ was held for the first time at the initiative of Green Forum. Organized at the TSC Auditorium of the university on Thursday (October 16) at 11 am, the seminar discussed in depth the life philosophy of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and the method of acquiring knowledge as directed by him.
The seminar was moderated by Green Forum, PUST Secretary and Professor Dr. Abdul Masud of the University’s Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering and Professor Dr. Sujahangir Kabir Sarkar, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration. The university’s Treasurer Professor Md. Abdul Latif was present as the chief guest. The keynote speaker was eminent Islamic thinker, negotiator and Dean of the Islamic Arabic University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Oli Ullah.
In his speech, he discussed in detail the topic “The Prophet’s (PBUH) Method of Acquiring Knowledge”. He said,
“The Prophet (PBUH) opened the door to a knowledge for mankind that is not only a source of religious knowledge but also of moral, social and scientific knowledge. He first initiated a new horizon of education in human history with the word ‘Iqra’ or ‘Read’. The Prophet (PBUH) taught us that acquiring knowledge is not only an exercise of the brain; it is also a means of purifying the soul. True knowledge is that which humbles a person, teaches responsibility towards creation and spreads goodness in society.”
He further said, “The Prophet (PBUH) himself was the greatest teacher. He not only taught his companions religious knowledge but also science, medicine, agriculture, administration and justice. We learn from his life that acquiring knowledge requires patience, hard work, sincerity and gratitude. If today’s young generation takes this teaching of the Prophet into its heart, they will enlighten themselves and take the society from darkness to light.”
Present at the event were Professor Md. Mohsin Hossain Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Disaster
