Professor Dr. Khokon made new Chairman of PSTU’s Physics and Mechanical Engineering Department

Professor Dr. Khokon Hossain has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Department of Physics and Mechanical Engineering (PME) under the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) for a three-year term.

The appointment was confirmed through an official order signed by Professor Dr. Md. Ikhtiar Uddin, Registrar of PSTU, with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.

Earlier today (Tuesday, October 21), faculty members of the department welcomed Professor Dr. Hossain with flowers at his office. They wished him good health and success in his tenure and assured their full cooperation in advancing departmental progress.

Professor Dr. Hossain, who has an illustrious academic and research background, obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics from Jahangirnagar University. Later, he completed another Master’s degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and earned his Ph.D. from the prestigious Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany.

He has published around fifty scientific research papers in reputed international journals. At present, he also serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at PSTU.

After assuming office, Professor Dr. Khokon Hossain said,“I aim to work collaboratively with my colleagues for the overall development of the department. Together, we will enhance the quality of research and promote modern, globally competitive education.”
