Police have recovered the hanging body of Rajmoni Islam, a History Department student at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), from his rented room on Thursday (July 2).
The 17th-batch student, originally from Thakurgaon district, was found dead at approximately 5:00 p.m. inside the Badsha Mess in Pabna city’s Degree Battala area.
According to local sources, construction workers at an adjacent site first noticed the incident and alerted the mess owner, who immediately contacted the authorities. Police arrived at the scene, unlocked the door, and retrieved the body in the presence of the student's friends.
Rajmoni was alone at the time of the incident, as his roommate had gone to his hometown.
PUST History Department teachers stated that Rajmoni attended classes regularly, including the day before his death, and showed no visible signs of distress. The sudden loss has left classmates and faculty deeply shocked, casting a shadow of grief over the university campus.
Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tariqul Islam confirmed the incident. “We recovered the body immediately after receiving the report and have moved it to the police station morgue,” he stated. “The exact cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem and a full investigation.”
