Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) celebrated academic and research achievements on Wednesday, May 13, by honoring 38 students with the Dean’s Honors Award.
The ceremony, organized by the Research and Technology Transfer Cell, also recognized six faculty members with the Vice Chancellor’s Research Award and 23 students with Innovation Project Awards.
Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam attended as the chief guest, with Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan serving as the special guest. The event was presided over by Dr. Md. Lokman Ali, Director of the Research and Technology Transfer Cell.
The Dean’s Honors Awards for 2024 and 2025 were presented to top-performing students across various departments. While the Vice Chancellor’s Research Award is typically reserved for five teachers (one from each faculty), six were honored this year due to a joint-score tie in one faculty. Additionally, 23 Masters and PhD students received funding and recognition for their innovation projects.
Addressing the awardees at the university’s convention hall, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam emphasized the role of innovation in national progress.
"You carry a responsibility to the nation. Innovation simplifies lives and drives societal development. We are steadily increasing research allocations to foster a culture of curiosity and excellence," he stated.
Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan urged researchers to bridge the gap between academia and industry, noting that applying research results to the industrial sector is vital for the country's economic growth.
The event concluded with remarks from the Deans of the five faculties and was attended by department heads, faculty, students, and parents.
