


The regional round of the ‘15th Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad 2026’ competition was held at Pabna University of Science and Technology on Saturday. The program was inaugurated by the Chemistry Department at 9 am by hoisting the national flag and the university flag with the national anthem.
The award distribution ceremony was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam. The resource person was Professor Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib, Department of Chemistry, Dhaka University.
Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. Md. Fazlul Haque, Proctor Professor Dr. Kamruzzaman Khan, Convenor of the Chemistry Department of the Pabna University Center for the competition, Ratan Kumar Pal, Co-Convenor Dr. Shakila Sultana Khan and Secretary Md. Faruk Ahmed. In addition, teachers and students from various departments were present. After the inauguration ceremony, a rally was taken out with the participation of teachers and students.
About 420 higher secondary students from 25 colleges in Rajshahi region participated in this competition. Organized by the Bangladesh Chemical Society, the competition was held simultaneously at 14 venues across the country today. The final round will be held at Dhaka University on April 4.
At the award ceremony, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam said to the students, ‘We respect your courage. This success of yours will take you further. Science teaches us to ask logical questions. You will become scientists and lead the country one day.’
Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan said, ‘You have to be scientifically minded. The importance of science and chemistry is very high. Your interest gives us hope. This will open the door to new research. It is through you that the Nobel Prize will come to Bangladesh one day.’
Resource Person Professor Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib told the students, ‘You will have to put in a lot of effort in your studies. As a result, you will get good results. You have to contribute to the society. You have to do well in whatever you study.’
