The official debut of 'Press Five', a new platform for journalists comprising five upazilas of Lalmonirhat district, was held at a function at Hamar Bari Hallroom in Lalmonirhat on Tuesday (January 6) with the slogan "Connection of the North" in mind. Chief Coordinator of Teesta Bachao Andolan, BNP Organizing Secretary and former Deputy Minister Principal Asadul Habib Dulu unveiled the logo of the organization.

At the beginning of the function, a condolence meeting and prayer mahfil were held to pray for the eternal peace of Begum Khaleda Zia, the pioneer of protecting the nation's democracy and uncompromising national leader. Special prayers were offered to pray for the peace of her soul.

Press Five convener Altafur Rahman Altaf presided over the event, while BNP Organizing Secretary and former Deputy Minister Principal Asadul Habib Dulu was present as the chief guest. Rangpur Journalists Union President Salequzzaman Salek, District BNP Joint Secretary Mominul Islam, Municipal BNP President Afzal Hossain, Press Five Advisors Mehedi Hasan Jewel, Touhid Liton, and Rezaul Karim Manik were present as special guests. At that time, the chief guest said in his speech, "The role of journalists in democracy and truth-telling is immense.

This united initiative of journalists from the northern region deserves praise.

He also said that he is hopeful that Press Five will play an important role in providing objective news and establishing the rights of the masses in the future.

Journalists, social and political figures from different upazilas of the district were present at the event. At the end, the logo of Press Five was officially unveiled and the future work plan of the organization was presented.
