The fire broke out around 1:30am on last night at roadside shops in front of the Dapadpia Union Parishad office. One grocery shop and five tea stalls were gutted.

Locals said flames were first seen at Rajib Store. They tried to douse the fire, but it quickly spread to nearby shops due to its intensity. Firefighters were informed and later brought the blaze under control. However, all goods inside the shops were reduced to ashes.

Rajib Hossain, owner of Rajib Store, said he had stocked goods for the upcoming Ramadan. “Everything has been burnt. I don’t know how the fire started,” he said.

Nalchiti Fire Service Station Officer Mofizur Rahman said firefighters rushed to the scene shortly after 1:00am and managed to control the fire. Initial findings suggest the blaze may have originated from an electrical short circuit.
