Two youths beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Louhjang

Two youths were beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Louhjang upazila of Munshiganj on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred in Satgharia village under Haldia union.

The deceased were identified as Sagar, 24, son of Forhad, and Sanarul, 16, son of Shahidul Islam. Both were residents of the Goalimandra Bede Palli area in the same upazila.

According to local sources, villagers detained the two from a field in Satgharia on suspicion of stealing electric wires and later assaulted them.

They were taken to Louhjang Upazila Health Complex around 9:30am, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam of Louhjang Police Station said police rushed to the scene after receiving a 999 emergency call in the morning.

“The bodies are in police custody and will be sent to the morgue for autopsy,” he said. Police have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
