On Saturday (January 3), the nomination papers of four candidates were declared cancelled after two rounds of scrutiny of nominations in Pabna 2 and 3 constituencies. The announcement was made by District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shahed Mostafa after the scrutiny.
The nominations of four candidates from Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Gano Forum, Gano Odhikar Parishad and Bangladesh Supreme Party have been declared cancelled in Pabna-2 (part of Sujanagar-Bera) and Pabna-3 (Chatmohar-Bhangura and Faridpur) constituencies. Their candidacies were cancelled due to various errors including failure to submit income tax certificates and incorrect information in the affidavit.
Those whose nominations were rejected are Sheikh Nasir Uddin, the candidate of the Gano Forum in the Pabna-2 constituency, Abdul Khalek, the candidate of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh in the Pabna-3 constituency, Hasanul Islam Raja, the candidate of the Gano Odhikar Parishad, and Mahbubur Rahman Joy Chowdhury of the Bangladesh Supreme Party.
