An old man named Mofiz Uddin (63) has died mysteriously in Kuri Chandrakhana village of Phulbari Sadar Union in Kurigram district.
It is known that Mofiz Uddin had been suffering from mental illness for several days. He was very afraid of the sight of water. Even after taking a bath once every 15-20 days, he would not put water on his head. Sujan Mia, the son of the deceased Mofiz Uddin, worked as a barber in Mirpur 1, Dhaka. On the afternoon of Wednesday, November 26, Sujan Mia called 3-4 of his friends and forcibly took his father Mofiz Uddin to the river and made him bathe. Locals suspect that the old man died there at some point due to excessive immersion in water.
On this news, the police of Phulbari police station ordered the burial of the deceased after inspecting the scene. But after a while, the police came to know through their sources that it was a mysterious death. Then the Phulbari police station went to the spot again and sent the body of the deceased to Kurigram for autopsy.
In this regard, the officer-in-charge of Phulbari police station, Shawkat Ali Sarkar, said, "First, after talking to the family members, we thought it was a natural death. Later, after learning about the suspicions of the locals about the death through sources, the body was sent to Kurigram for autopsy to unravel the real mystery. The real cause of death will be known when the report comes."
