


The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has sent back four young women who were rescued in Kachakata, Kurigram and were arrested in India through a flag meeting.
The handover took place on Wednesday (November 26) evening at a place adjacent to Sub-Pillar 14-S of Main Pillar 1015 on the Purba Kedar border of Kachakata police station in Kurigram in the presence of border security officers from the two countries.
The four young women who returned are Akhi Khatun (20) of Maligachha village of Pabna Sadar police station, Adiba Akhter (23) of Bancharampur in Brahmanbaria, Shirina Akhter (26) of Durgapur in Netrakona district and Tasmia Akhter (18) of Naria upazila in Shariatpur. All of them lived in rented houses in Notunbazar area of Badda police station in Dhaka. Three of them worked in a beauty parlor and one in a garment factory.
Akhi Akhter said that they entered India through the Jaflong border in Sylhet on November 22 without informing anyone after being lured by a woman they knew named Jannat. A private car arranged on the other side of the border took them to Guwahati, the capital of Assam. The police detained them there on November 23. "I made the wrong decision in the hope of a better life," said Akhi.
The flag meeting was led by Havildar Shahjahan Ali of Kedar Company Sadar on behalf of the BGB and Inspector Dhirendra Kumar of Rustom Camp on behalf of the BSF.
Havildar Shahjahan Ali said that the BSF has handed over the four young women to the custody of the BGB. Later, they were handed over to the Kachakata police station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachakata police station Lutfar Rahman said that the guardians of the four young women have been informed. They will be handed over to their families after the process is completed.
