


A devastating fire erupted in a residence located in the Jorun area of Konabari, within Gazipur city. Approximately 100 rooms of a tinsed colony were reduced to ashes as a result of this incident.
The fire ignited at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 19. The blaze originated in the home of Rumel Pathan in the Jorun area of Konabari city.
According to the fire service and local witnesses, the fire began in a room of Rumel Pathan's tinsed colony at 5 PM on Wednesday. As the flames intensified, they rapidly spread to adjacent rooms. Initially, local residents attempted to extinguish the fire.
However, as the fire's intensity grew, their efforts proved unsuccessful. Subsequently, upon notification, two units from the Konabari Modern Fire Service commenced operations to control the blaze. Later, two additional units from the Sarabo Modern Fire Service arrived to assist in the firefighting efforts.
Rumel Pathan, the homeowner, reported that all 100 rooms in the tinsed colony were completely destroyed. He also mentioned that it was impossible to salvage any belongings from the rooms. A garment worker named Shahin Alam stated, I learned from the office that the house was ablaze. Upon returning home, I discovered that everything had been reduced to ashes. The only thing remaining was the clothing I was wearing.
A tenant named Rahima Begum remarked, I received my salary a few days prior. All the money I had earned was in the room. Oh God, I have lost everything. The money I worked hard for day and night vanished in an instant.
Local resident Palash Molla mentioned that after hearing the news, we locals attempted to extinguish the fire. However, the intensity of the flames was so severe that we had to hurry to combat the blaze. He noted that due to the lack of a road, the fire service had to rush to the scene. He added that the fire was brought under control after approximately two hours of efforts from both the locals and the fire service.
Md. Saiful Islam, the Warehouse Inspector of Konabari Modern Fire Service, stated that upon receiving the alert, two units from Konabari Modern Fire Service commenced operations to manage the fire. Subsequently, two additional units from Sarabo Modern Fire Service joined the effort. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the incident. The fire service team was unable to immediately determine the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
