A human chain was established in Lakshmipur to protest against the harassment of July fighter Tutul Patwari, who was falsely accused of possessing weapons, and to call for a thorough investigation.
The injured July fighter Foundation organized a one-hour human chain in front of the District Commissioner's office at approximately 11 am on Tuesday, November 18.
Previously, on Sunday, November 16, law enforcement officials discovered weapons in a bag located in the garden of Aliraj Patwari's residence in the Dalal Bazar Union of Sadar Upazila.
Immediately, social media buzzed on Facebook as law enforcement officers retrieved weapons from the vicinity of the home of Jubo Dal leader and July fighter Tutul Patwari.
At one point, Tutul Patwari went live on his Facebook account late Sunday night, asserting his innocence and accusing Jamaat during the broadcast. Tutul Patwari serves as the general secretary of the Dalal Bazar Union Jubo Dal.
Throughout Monday, prominent leaders from the district Jubo Dal and responsible individuals from all units vehemently condemned the discovery of weapons linked to Tutul Patwari.
Those present at the human chain event included District Jubo Dal President Abdul Alim Humayun, General Secretary Syed Rashidul Hasan Lincoln, District Sechchhasebak Dal General Secretary Harunur Rashid Harun, and Jubo Dal leaders Amir Hamza Raju, MA Momin, Md. Zahir Uddin, along with the victimized Jubo Dal leader Tutul Patwari.
The human chain was organized by Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan Babu, the convener of Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal.
The speakers emphasized that Tutul Patwari is a dedicated leader. They noted that due to political vendetta, the Awami League government has previously filed 19 cases against him. Nevertheless, they have failed to implicate him with weapons. Tutul was injured during the student-public movement and underwent extensive treatment in the hospital. He has been officially recognized as a July fighter by the government. Currently, a group is attempting to frame him by placing weapons near his residence, despite the fact that Tutul has not been home for an extended period. He resides in a rented house in the Bazar area. Elections are approaching. We also aim to ensure the recovery of weapons. However, it is crucial that they do not wrongfully accuse an innocent individual in the process of weapon recovery. With this consideration, law enforcement agencies will proceed with the recovery efforts. The informant who provided details regarding the weapons found near Tutul Patwary's residence should now be subjected to legal scrutiny and questioned about the ownership of these weapons.
