At least one person has died and around 60 others were injured during a pre-match event at Alejandro Villanueva Stadium in Lima on Friday.

Alianza Lima expressed condolences and said it is cooperating fully with authorities to investigate the situation. Initial inspections by fire officials found no structural damage to the stadium.

Despite the incident, the Peruvian Professional Soccer League confirmed that Saturday’s match will go ahead as scheduled, with assurances of enhanced safety measures.
