United’s Bryan Mbeumo shocked the home crowd by netting a minute after kick-off, converting a through ball from Amad Diallo. Liverpool struggled to find the net, with Cody Gakpo hitting the woodwork three times before finally equalising in the 78th minute, tapping in a cross from Federico Chiesa.
However, just six minutes later, Harry Maguire rose highest to power home a header from a Bruno Fernandes cross, sending the travelling fans into a frenzy and sealing a thrilling victory for the Red Devils.
Sunday’s hard-fought 2-1 win at Anfield against Liverpool has pushed Manchester United to the ninth spot. They have 13 points from eight games, trailing leaders Arsenal by six points. Meanwhile, Liverpool drop to fourth, with 15 points.
