The holy month of Ramadan offers believers a special opportunity to seek forgiveness for their sins and strengthen their relationship with Allah. Islam teaches that human beings may make mistakes intentionally or unintentionally while performing acts of worship such as fasting, prayer and other religious duties.
According to Islamic teachings, the best way to correct these mistakes is sincere repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah, following the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The Qur’an encourages believers to turn to Allah with humility and repentance. One well-known supplication expresses this message: a believer admits wrongdoing and seeks Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
Islam teaches that Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful, and sincere repentance can erase many sins committed during life.
Ramadan is considered the most blessed time for worship. During this month, Muslims increase their acts of devotion, including prayer, fasting, charity, recitation of the Qur’an and remembrance of Allah.
Believers are encouraged to examine their actions and correct any shortcomings in worship. Mistakes may occur in daily behaviour, speech or religious practices, but Islam emphasises that sincere regret and repentance can lead to forgiveness.
Islamic teachings highlight that true repentance begins with regret for wrongdoing and a commitment to avoid repeating mistakes. Scholars often refer to the saying that feeling remorse for a sin is itself a form of repentance.
When believers sincerely ask for forgiveness and pray for mercy, they hope for Allah’s compassion and acceptance of their repentance.
As Ramadan approaches its end, Muslims are encouraged to intensify their prayers and seek forgiveness for any shortcomings in their worship during the month.
Religious scholars say that sincere repentance, humility and prayer are the key ways to seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness, allowing believers to end Ramadan with renewed faith and spiritual strength.
