The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants for five former Director Generals of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), along with ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and over twenty other high-profile individuals, in connection with allegations of crimes against humanity, specifically enforced disappearances and torture at interrogation facilities.
The warrants, issued on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, are related to two separate formal charges accusing the individuals of abduction and torture at the DGFI's Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC) and the RAB's Taskforce for Interrogation (TFI) Cell during the Awami League government's tenure.
Following this development, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, a key student leader in last year's mass uprising, made a statement on his verified Facebook account on Thursday night. While the precise content of his post was not detailed, it is understood to be a reaction to the legal action against former top officials of the previous regime. Nahid Islam was previously a witness who gave a statement against former Prime Minister Hasina in a related crimes against humanity case.
The Tribunal has set October 22 as the date for the accused to be produced before the court. The warrants represent a major step in the interim government's efforts to investigate and ensure accountability for alleged human rights violations.
