Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee has sharply criticized political rivals also claiming that those who loudly preach justice often hide a long record of misdeeds.
He made the remarks on Sunday evening while attending a reception for newly enrolled lawyers at the Laxmipur Judge Court.
Directing his criticism at Jamaat-e-Islami, Anee highlighted their negative role during the 1971 Liberation War. "They did not work for the country's benefit during our independence" he said. "They have done politics for many years but they achieved nothing and they will achieve nothing in the future."
The senior BNP leader also strongly condemned the newly formed NCP for adopting a self-centered approach to politics. Reflecting on his own background in student leadership, Anee emphasized the absolute necessity of unity over personal ambition.
"The NCP operates with a mentality we never even considered during our student politics days" Anee stated. "You cannot lead a movement or a generation if you only think about yourself. We must remain united under proper leadership." He noted that he had previously raised concerns regarding this self-serving political style in Parliament.
Concluding his address Anee reaffirmed that the BNP remains fully committed to working for the welfare and democratic future of the country.
The reception was attended by several notable local leaders as special guests including Parliament Whip Ashraf Uddin Nizam, Laxmipur District Council Chairman Sahab Uddin Sabu and District BNP Joint Convener Advocate Hasibur Rahman.
