The National Citizens' Party (NCP) has announced nationwide protests for Wednesday following an alleged attack on its top leaders during a rally in Habiganj.

In a press release issued by the party’s office cell on Tuesday night, the NCP strongly condemned what it described as a "terrorist attack" by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists. The assault reportedly disrupted the NCP's peaceful 'July March' and targeted the motorcade carrying Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam and Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary.

The central directive mandates all metropolitan, district, upazila and police station units to organize protests and demonstrations in their respective areas on July 29. Party leadership urged all local wings to complete necessary preparations to ensure the rallies are conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner, with maximum participation from activists.

The nationwide call to action stems from a volatile clash in Habiganj on Tuesday evening. NCP officials allege that local BNP activists carried out a surprise attack on their march, which resulted in injuries to several NCP members and the vandalism of vehicles belonging to journalists covering the event.
