The National Citizen Party (NCP) has permanently expelled Md. Bayezid Hossain Shahed, Senior Joint Convener of its Faridpur District unit following his conviction for manufacturing unlicensed medicines and stocking expired drugs.
The expulsion order signed by Central Convener Committee Office Cell member Sadia Farzana Dinar on Thursday and revoked Bayezid’s primary membership and removed him from all party positions under directives from Central Convener Md. Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain.
The disciplinary action follows a mobile court sentencing that handed the 40-year-old political figure a six-month jail term and a Tk.10,000 fine for illegally producing unauthorized medicines and possessing expired Unani pharmaceuticals. He was subsequently transferred to Faridpur District Jail.
Confirming the decision the Faridpur District NCP Member Secretary Sayeed Khan noted that the party would not shoulder responsibility for an individual's criminal acts also describing the central committee's decision as necessary and timely.
