Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus met with a Japanese delegation from Cipher Core Co. Ltd. to discuss bolstering Bangladesh’s digital sovereignty through advanced, quantum-resistant security technologies.

The delegation was led by Takatoshi Nakamura, an award-winning information security scientist and the inventor of MIT-Complete Cipher Technology. This innovation is regarded as a critical defense against future quantum computing threats. Discussions centered on securing government communications, protecting national digital platforms, and developing a secure, community-level digital cash system.

During the session, Cipher Core COO Motoyuki Odachi proposed the establishment of a Bangladesh-Japan Development Forum. This initiative aims to enhance technology transfer and streamline the mobility of skilled professionals between the two nations.

Professor Yunus, alongside Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Md. Dawood Ali and researcher Ashir Ahmed, emphasized expanding cooperation across technology, research, and trade. The talks also touched on economic diversification, including the potential to increase Bangladeshi leather exports to Japan.

The meeting underscores Bangladesh’s ambition to become a regional leader in digital innovation by adopting "future-proof" security while ensuring sustainable economic growth. Also in attendance were Cipher Core Chairman Appel Mahmud and Managing Director Engineer Mahi Islam.
