Legal Notice Demands Parasailing Ban in Cox's Bazar

A Supreme Court lawyer has served a legal notice on the government demanding the immediate suspension of unregulated parasailing at Cox’s Bazar sea beach. This action follows the tragic death of a tourist during the adventure activity.

Advocate Nishat Farzana sent the legal notice on Tuesday following a fatal accident on 1 August. A tourist died after falling while parasailing at Darianagar Beach in the Himchhari area of Cox's Bazar.

The notice alleges that private operators run these activities without proper safety gear, trained staff or standard equipment. Although the local administration claims tourist magistrates monitor the beach this fatal accident occurred without their knowledge. Furthermore government officials admitted that the operator involved Fly Air Sea Sports Parasailing lacked official approval to run the service.

Advocate Farzana highlighted that allowing unauthorised, hazardous activities to continue is a regulatory failure that endangers lives. The legal notice presents eight key demands to the authorities which include

Suspending all unsafe parasailing operations in Cox's Bazar immediately. Verifying operator licences and safety standards. Forming an independent committee to investigate the death. Taking legal action against the responsible operator. Creating a comprehensive international-standard safety framework for all adventure tourism in the country.

The government has been given 15 working days to take action.
