Iran’s armed forces have warned that a resumption of war with the United States and Israel is "likely," claiming Washington has shown no commitment to existing treaties or ceasefire agreements.

In a statement released via the Fars news agency, Mohammad Jafar Asadi, deputy of Iran's military headquarters, dismissed recent US diplomatic efforts as "media-driven." He alleged that American officials are primarily focused on stabilizing oil prices rather than achieving lasting peace. "The armed forces are fully prepared for any new adventures or foolishness from the Americans," Asadi stated.

The current ceasefire, which many hoped would lead to a permanent settlement, appears to be in a deadlock. Analysts suggest that the two sides remain fundamentally far apart, with Tehran and Washington presenting conflicting lists of demands.

The Trump administration reportedly believes Iran is on the verge of an economic "oil storage catastrophe" and is maintaining pressure to force a surrender. However, experts like Mohamad Elmasry of the Doha Institute suggest this is an inaccurate reading, noting that Iran has implemented "workarounds" to sustain its economy for longer than Washington anticipates.

A senior Iranian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Tehran has offered a new proposal to break the impasse.

Reopening the Strait of Hormuz to global shipping and ending the US naval blockade. A formal guarantee that the US and Israel will not launch further strikes. Moving the more complex nuclear negotiations to a "final stage" to create a more conducive atmosphere for an immediate truce.

So far, President Trump has reportedly rejected this proposal, insisting on addressing nuclear concerns alongside maritime security. As the "holding pattern" continues, the risk of a return to active hostilities remains high.
