


A fire broke out in Ekta Tower in Konabari, Gazipur. The fire broke out in a fast food restaurant named Testing Tom on the ground floor of Ekta Tower on Konabari Ambagh Road in the city at 5 pm on Saturday (November 1).
Upon receiving the news, two units of Konabari Modern Fire Service first started working to control the fire. Later, two more units of Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Service joined the fire control work.
Local sources and Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service Mohammad Mamun said that the market was closed weekly on Friday. The fast food shop was also closed today. On Friday, around 5 pm, locals suddenly saw smoke coming from a fast food shop on the ground floor of Ekta Tower. Later, the fire department was informed and the fire brigade members started working to control the fire. After about an hour of effort, four units of the fire service were able to bring the fire under control at 6:26 pm.
Konabari Modern Fire Service Team Leader Md. Ashrafuzzaman said that work is underway to control the fire inside the market. Due to the heavy smoke inside, the fire control work has to be done very quickly.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
