Journalists held a 21-point protest in Gazipur demanding justice for the murder of all journalists including Sagar-Runi, full implementation of the ninth wage board, rapid formation of the tenth wage board, and formulation of journalist protection policies.

On Saturday (November 1), at 11 am, a human chain and protest rally was organized by the Gazipur district branch of the Journalists Union at the Press Club premises as part of the central program.

Speakers at the rally said that even after 54 years of independence, the fate of journalists has not changed. Governments come and go—but the fair rights and professional dignity of journalists are still ignored. Thousands of crores of the country's taka are smuggled abroad, while the burden of debt is placed on the shoulders of ordinary people and journalists.

The speakers also said that we do not just want the tenth wage board, we want a just state system, where the respect, security and dignity that journalists deserve will be ensured. Let our writing be the fire that will burn injustice, let our pen be the light that will unmask the looters and murderers.

Besides, the implementation of the wage board is not just a demand for money, it is a question of freedom of journalism and the people's right to know. If the government thinks that journalists can be silenced, it is wrong. We will not put down our pens, we will not silence our voices.

The human chain and protest rally held under the chairmanship of Journalists Union Gazipur District Branch President Delwar Hossain and the lively management of General Secretary Muhammad Hedayet Ullah, former president of Gazipur Press Club, staff reporter of NTV and Amar Desh newspaper Nasir Ahmed, former president of Gazipur Press Club and staff reporter of ATN Bangla Mazarul Islam Masum, senior vice-president of Journalists Union Gazipur District Branch Sheikh Azizul Haque, former vice-president of Gazipur Press Club and organizing secretary of Journalists Union Md. Rezaul Bari Babul, former general secretary of Gazipur Press Club S. M. Ripon Shah, Md. Aminul Islam, Gazipur correspondent of Maasranga Television Fardin Ferdous, treasurer of Journalists Union Gazipur District Branch S. M. Habibur Rahman Habib, member of Journalists Union and president of Kapasia Press Club F. M. Kamal Hossain, editor and publisher of Daily Bangla Bhoomi Nazrul Islam Azhar, Gazipur district correspondent of DBC News Mahmuda Sikder, member of the Journalists Union Mazharul Islam Kanchan, and Gazipur correspondent of Daily Nabajagran Bayejit Hossain were among the participants.
