Two young brothers drowned in a pond near their home in Bhatia village, Narail Municipality, on Wednesday morning (June 10).

The victims, five-year-old Abu Bakkar and two-year-old Omar Faruk, were the sons of local resident Majedul Sheikh.

According to relatives and neighbors, the children were playing near their house while family members were occupied with daily chores. When the family noticed the boys were missing, they immediately began searching the area.

At approximately 11:30 am, the brothers were discovered floating in a nearby pond. They were quickly pulled from the water and rushed to Narail District Hospital. The attending doctor at the emergency department pronounced them dead upon arrival.

The tragic incident has cast a deep shadow of mourning over the village.

Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ajay Kumar Kundu confirmed the incident. "We dispatched officers to the scene upon receiving the report," OC Kundu stated. "After completing the necessary legal procedures, the bodies were handed over to the family."
