


A tree plantation program has been launched in Ramgarh, Khagrachari, as part of a nationwide environmental initiative. Ramgarh Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Municipal Administrator Kazi Shamim officially inaugurated the local drive by planting saplings at the Ramgarh Upazila Shishu Kanan and Ramgarh Government High School premises on Saturday (June 13) afternoon.
The event was attended by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Deen Al Jannat, Range Officer Khalilur Rahman, Upazila ICT Officer Rehan Uddin, and LGED Engineer Naimul Islam. Also present were local BNP leaders, including Municipal President Bahar Uddin and General Secretary Shefayet Ullah, alongside Ramgarh Press Club Vice President Shuvashish Das, Joint General Secretary Ratan Vaishnav Tripura, teachers, students, and local dignitaries.
As part of the central program, various fruit, timber, and medicinal saplings will be planted in phases across Ramgarh Municipality and Union Nos. 1 and 2.
This local drive aligns with the government's ambitious plan to plant 250 million trees nationwide over the next five years to build a greener Bangladesh. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the central program from Cox's Bazar on Saturday, urging citizens to actively participate in protecting nature and the environment.
