The government has officially launched its Boro paddy collection program in Lohagara upazila, Narail, enabling farmers to sell their harvests directly to the state at a fair price.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Kaiser inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest on Thursday morning (June 4) at the local government food warehouse. The procurement drive is a joint effort between the Upazila Administration and the Food Department.
Presided over by Upazila Food Officer Sushanta Kumar Majumder, the inaugural event featured local leaders and government officials, including Lohagara Upazila BNP Acting President Md. Hemayet Hossain as a special guest.
Other notable attendees included Upazila Agriculture Officer Munmun Saha, Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Local Supply Depot (OCLSD) Kripa Sindu, Narail-2 MP Representative Dr. Mahabub Alam, alongside various local public representatives, political figures, and farmers.
Speaking at the event, officials emphasized that purchasing directly from the government food warehouse eliminates middlemen. This ensures that genuine farmers receive the full financial benefit of their crops while establishing complete transparency and accountability in the state's grain procurement system.
With this launch, the season’s official Boro paddy procurement is now actively underway across Lohagara upazila.
