The 47th National Science and Technology Week was observed in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj with a day-long programme featuring a science fair, science olympiad and quiz competition.

The event was held on Thursday (April 16) at the upazila parishad auditorium under the theme: “Advancing Bangladesh through innovation; building an innovation-driven nation through science and technology.” It was organised by the upazila administration with support from the National Museum of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ashik Kabir inaugurated the programme. In his speech, he stressed the importance of technology-based education to stay competitive in the modern world. He said such initiatives help develop innovation, creativity and research-oriented thinking among students.

Among the guests were upazila BNP President Abdus Salam Khan and General Secretary Tarikul Islam Raju. Also present were Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Raihan Islam Shovon, Agriculture Officer Mizanur Rahman, Social Services Officer Rakibul Hasan Shuvo, Youth Development Officer Syed Uddin Ahmed, and Project Implementation Officer Abdul Kader.

Local journalists, including Muksudpur Press Club President Md Siru Mia and General Secretary Kazi Md Ohidul Islam, attended the event.

Students from various educational institutions across the upazila took part in the science fair, presenting innovative projects. Participating institutions included Government Muksudpur College, Government S.J. Model High School, Muksudpur Pilot Boys’ High School, Batikamari School and College, Boalia Nezamuddin High School, Maulvi Abdul Hai Memorial School and College, Jasimunnesa High School, Jalirpar Bangaratna College, and Jalirpar J.K.M Mallik High School.

A science olympiad and quiz competition were also held. Winners were selected by judges and awarded prizes.

Organisers said such programmes play an important role in promoting scientific awareness and encouraging young learners to pursue innovation.
