A mobile court seized approximately 4,000 liters of illegally stored diesel during a raid in Sariakandi, Bogura , on Wednesday night.
The operation, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sumaiya Ferdous, took place between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM at "Lopa Enterprise" in the Dakshin Hindukandi Tipur More area.
Acting on a tip-off, the court raided the warehouse owned by businessman Lokman Hakim. While the owner was absent during the raid, officials discovered the fuel stored in several drums and an oil tanker. The mobile court subsequently sealed both the shop and the warehouse.
Owner Lokman Hakim later claimed the fuel was intended for construction projects in the local char (river island) areas.
UNO Sumaiya Ferdous stated that the seized diesel would be sold to local farmers starting at 9:00 AM on Thursday. "The proceeds will be deposited into the government treasury," she said, adding that drives against illegal fuel hoarding will continue.
Sariakandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.F.M. Asaduzzaman and a police team assisted in the operation.
