The Bangladesh government has increased the prices of all fuel types at the consumer level, citing a continuous rise in global market rates.
According to a Press Information Department (PID) handout the new rates will take effect nationwide starting tomorrow Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Under the revised pricing, octane will now cost Tk 140 per litre while petrol has been set at Tk 135. The price of diesel has risen to Tk 115 per litre, and kerosene will sell for Tk 130.
This sudden hike follows a previous government announcement that prices would remain unchanged for April. In March diesel was priced at Tk 100 octane at Tk 120 petrol at Tk 116 and kerosene at Tk 112.
The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources stated that the adjustment was necessary to align domestic costs with international trends.
