


State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has assured the public that Bangladesh’s fuel oil reserves have reached their highest level in history.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) in Chattogram on Friday, he emphasized that the country faces no energy crisis.
The minister stated that fuel requirements for April and May are fully secured, and the procurement process for June is already underway. To further bolster energy security, the government is diversifying its import sources for both refined and crude oil. As part of this strategy plans to import crude oil from various countries, including Malaysia have been finalized.
According to the Ministry of Energy the current national reserves are Diesel- 1,13,085 tonnes, Octane-31,821 tonnes, Petrol- 18,021 tonnes and Furnace Oil- 77,546 tonnes.
Ministry spokesperson and Joint Secretary Monir Hossain Chowdhury confirmed that the existing stocks of octane and petrol are sufficient to meet the nation's demand for the next two months.
The government remains committed to maintaining a stable energy supply chain despite global market fluctuations.
