


Eight more children have died from measles and related complications across the country in the last 24 hours.
The update was shared in a regular bulletin issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (April 16).
According to the DGHS, two of the deaths were directly caused by measles, while six children died after developing severe complications linked to the disease.
Data from the DGHS shows a sharp rise in measles cases since March 15. During this period, 34 people have died from confirmed measles infections. In addition, 172 deaths have been reported among patients showing measles-like symptoms.
In the past month alone, 3,065 measles cases have been confirmed, while suspected cases have reached 20,352.
The outbreak has put significant pressure on both government and private hospitals. So far, 13,129 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted. Among them, 10,496 have recovered and been discharged, while many others continue to receive treatment in isolation wards.
