A day-long programme featuring prayers, a Milad Mahfil and discussions was organised at Faridpur District Jail on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
Special arrangements were made for both prison officials and staff and the inmates.
Jail Superintendent Khondkar Md Al Mamun said a special feast was arranged for prison officials and employees in the dining room of the jail guards’ barracks. Inmates were also provided with improved meals three times during the day.
The morning meal included payesh (rice pudding) and puffed rice. Lunch consisted of polao, beef or mutton, chicken roast, soft drinks, salad, sweets and betel leaf with areca nut. Dinner included rui fish, rice and potato curry.
The meals were distributed among the inmates at the jail’s multipurpose shed. According to the superintendent, inmates collected their meals there individually.
Jail Superintendent Shawkat Hossain Mia said the Milad and prayer programme included a discussion on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). A special prayer was also offered for the welfare and peace of the country and its people, as well as for prison officials, employees and inmates.
