President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today pledged to carry out his constitutional duties in a completely non-partisan manner for the welfare of the state.
"I resigned from the party, parliament and the Cabinet before taking on this role. I am now fully non-partisan and I will work solely for the welfare of the state and its people" he said.
He made the remarks at his first Durbar with Bangabhaban officers and employees held at the Durbar Hall at 11:30 am. The President said he would hold no bias toward anyone, keeping the country's and people's interests as his top priority.
He urged Bangabhaban staff to perform their duties with dedication, honesty, and sincerity also stressing the need for public trust and accountability. "We must have love, respect and loyalty towards the country and its people" he said.
The President emphasized maintaining confidentiality on matters related to national security handled at Bangabhaban and called for economy and responsibility in state spending, warning against waste. "Government resources are managed with the people's money their use must be transparent and accountable" he said.
He also encouraged staff to maintain discipline to build strong moral character, and balance family life with work. "We are a family here, working from the same place. We will resolve problems together" he added.
Reflecting on his political journey, the President paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in the 1971 Liberation War, honoring the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. He expressed hope that Bangabhaban's staff would continue working together, upholding its history and tradition.
